About Erica Pedersen, M.S., CCC-SLP

Meet Erica Pedersen, M.S., CCC–SLP Founder & Director | Trilingual Medical Speech-Language Pathologist Encinitas, CA

I’ve been in love with language for as long as I can remember.

My path to becoming a speech-language pathologist started with a deep love of language, but it was shaped and sharpened through years of academic study, clinical training, and real-world experience.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley, where I focused on interdisciplinary studies with a strong emphasis on Linguistics, Spanish, and Portuguese. Berkeley was where I first began to understand the power and complexity of communication, not just as a cultural force, but as a system shaped by neurology, psychology, and social context. I was especially drawn to the intersection of language, identity, and science, which set the stage for what would come next.

I went on to complete my Master of Science in Communicative Sciences and Disorders at New York University, where I graduated with a 3.9 GPA and was honored with opportunities to present intervention planning strategies for complex adult disorders as part of NYU’s faculty-selected Lecture Series. My graduate work gave me a solid foundation in evidence-based practice, and I received advanced training in PROMPT, Modified LSVT/LOUD, AAC, and motor speech therapy. I also trained in the use of gold-standard assessment tools for both pediatric and adult populations, monolingual and bilingual.

Since then, I’ve worked across the lifespan and across settings—schools, outpatient clinics, and post-acute rehabilitation—supporting individuals with a wide range of communication and swallowing needs. I’m trilingual (English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese), and I specialize in bilingual assessment, neurogenic communication disorders, pediatric articulation and language therapy, and interdisciplinary care planning.

In every setting, I bring both clinical precision and cultural sensitivity. I’ve supervised speech-language pathology assistants, led complex IEP case management for public school districts, and collaborated with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and psychologists to create cohesive, effective treatment plans.

I bring all of this experience into my private practice, where the goal is simple: to help people communicate and connect in ways that feel natural, functional, and empowering. I dedicate myself to helping patients develop the skills that help them feel most like themselves, whether that’s through speech, voice, language, or swallowing.
